Thailand Visa 2026: 60 Days Visa-Free for 93 Countries, New Digital Nomad Visa, Mandatory Arrival Card, and Why You Should Book Your Trip Before the Rules Change

On February 10, 2026, Thailand's Cabinet formally approved a sweeping set of visa measures affecting millions of travellers worldwide — including 60-day visa-free entry for 93 countries, a mandatory digital arrival card, a new Digital Nomad visa, and an active government review that could cut the visa-free window back to 30 days.

60-Day Visa-Free Entry: Still Active for 93 Countries

  • Citizens of 93 countries and territories can enter Thailand without a visa and stay up to 60 days for tourism or short-term business. This includes nationals of the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, most of Europe, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, the UAE, Brazil, and many more.
  • While in Thailand, you can extend your stay by an additional 30 days at any immigration office, bringing your total to 90 days.
  • 🇮🇳For Indian travellers specifically, this is a major upgrade. The previous allowance was just 30 days, and getting it required queuing for a visa on arrival and paying a THB 2,000 fee. Now it is free, fast, and valid for twice as long.
  • 📋Key requirements at the gate: completed TDAC form (see below), proof of accommodation, a confirmed return or onward ticket.

📱The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) Is Now Mandatory

  • The paper arrival card is gone. Every traveller entering Thailand must now complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online at least 72 hours before arrival at international airports and land border crossings.
  • The TDAC replaced the physical form on May 1, 2025 and is now fully enforced. You can complete it at tdac.boi.go.th.

Forgetting to fill in the TDAC before you land is the single most common avoidable problem right now.

💻Destination Thailand Visa (DTV): The Digital Nomad Option

  • For remote workers, freelancers and digital nomads, Thailand introduced the Destination Thailand Visa. The DTV allows a stay of up to 180 days per entry, with multiple entries over its validity period.
  • The application is made online through Thai embassies worldwide. Fees are THB 10,000 per application and you need to show proof of at least US $10,000 health insurance coverage.
  • 🚫You cannot work for Thai clients or employers on a DTV. It is strictly for people earning income from outside Thailand.

⚠️The Risk: 60 Days Could Soon Become 30 Days

  • As of February 2026, the Thai government is actively reviewing whether to cut the visa-free stay from 60 back to 30 days due to concerns about abuse, illegal work, and repeated back-to-back entries.
  • A new Visa Policy Committee has been appointed and is currently reviewing the rules. No final decision has been made and no date has been set, but the review is real and ongoing.
  • 📅If you have a longer Thailand trip planned, get it booked and timed before this changes.

What You Should Do

  • 👉Check if your nationality is on the 93-country visa-free list
  • 👉Complete your TDAC at least 72 hours before you fly
  • 👉If you need more than 90 days, apply for a DTV or tourist visa before departure
  • 👉Plan extended stays sooner rather than later while 60 days is still guaranteed
